Communications undoubtedly constitute one of the most important processes of man's present-day motion. Among the aggregate of communications established between men throughout the world, cinema is one of the most original and valuable manifestations. As they feel ever lonelier and more restricted in face of communication instruments, cinema in its profound and artistic form, still opens for them a window on the world of meaning. This world of meaning combines all that mankind is experiencing today with the thoughts of filmmakers. In cinematheque and similar institutions, this world of meaning and thought is investigated and thought over.
