Masterpieces of the Persian Painting
 September 2005

Note by Sharareh Salehi ,General Secretary of the Conference:

In the Name of God

Iran’s rich mysticism has always inspired the yearning souls that seek enlightenment through the Persian painting, the magnificence of which has captured enthusiastic aficionados of art throughout the world. These are works replete with imagination, spirit, and desire to attain a dream paradise.

Spectators have always admired the beauty of the Persian painting, but some have not been captured by just the façade of the paintings. Instead, entranced researchers have delved into the deep meaning of the Persian Painting.

The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art is greatly honoured to host these restless lovers of the Persian painting. This honour is the fruit of an all-inclusive teamwork.

This brochure introduces renowned and venerated researchers, whose invaluable research has been an asset to artists, art lovers, and art students throughout the globe over years.

Held simultaneously with the exhibition and attended by distinguished figures of scientific and cultural import from various countries, An International Conference on the Masterpieces of the Persian Painting will multiply the grandeur and glimmer of this historic event.

I would like to express my regret that Dr. Zeren Tanindi, Dr. Jonathan Bloom, Dr. Sheila Blair, Prof. Jean-Philippe Lenclos, Ms. Vera Tamari, and Dr. Massoumeh Farhad and Dr. Sarwat Okasha, who helped us take this initiative, could not accept our invitation to the conference.

I hope that successful organization of this conference will be a step forward in introducing the Persian art.

Sharareh Salehi
General Secretary of the Conference
